The client’s primary goal: to provide a patient-friendly setting, separate
from the main hospital complex, for Pre-Admission Testing, Imaging, Women’s
services and Ambulatory Surgery. The client was also committed to investing
in a 50-year “Legacy” building with efficient systems and durable, timeless
materials used in the style of the traditional regional vernacular.
The site was a mature woodlot with over 80 outstanding specimens that
were to be preserved, and it also served as a storm water retention area for
the surrounding neighborhood.
The completed project received preservation awards from the local
Historic Preservation Society; one for successful conservation of the site’s
assets, and the other for the building’s contribution to enhancing the
historic character of the district.
